I only stayed a few hours, but I had a great room and I hadn’t spent hours at the other hotel waiting. I gave Hilton a call to find out if there was room at the Garden Inn. I had seen the Hilton Garden Inn just two doors down. When I arrived at the designated hotel, I found about 150 of my fellow passengers waiting for a room. After working that out, I left for the hotel. However, the most important thing I needed was boarding passes to Vancouver. The airline did look after the passengers and before I had gotten off the boarding ramp, I had an overnight hotel reservation, Lyft ride, and an airport food voucher for $30. After a long day of traveling and having a number of aircraft challenges, including delays, being kicked off an aircraft, broken aircraft, aborting a takeoff at JFK, standing in the middle of nowhere on the JFK ramp, I finally got to SLC, which wasn’t my destination.
